Sports Injury Recovery in Apple Valley, MN

WHO WE TREAT

Are you still dealing with these signs of a sports injury that did not fully heal

You are not imagining it. Your body is telling you the repair job is incomplete. You may be a candidate for our recovery protocol if you experience:

  • Pain that returns every time you push back to full intensity
  • An old injury that healed “enough” to function but never feels right
  • Joint instability during cutting, pivoting, or lateral movement
  • Muscle strains or tendon pain that linger weeks past what your doctor predicted
  • Swelling or stiffness that responds to ice and rest but comes back the moment you train

Understanding sports injuries: why your body stopped healing before the job was done

The injury healed. The tissue did not.

When you tear a ligament, strain a muscle, or damage a tendon, your body launches an inflammatory response to begin repair. That response works – to a point. The body patches the damage with scar tissue: a quick, rigid replacement that restores basic structure but lacks the elasticity, strength, and blood supply of the original tissue. For many athletes, the inflammatory cycle stalls before full repair completes. The patched tissue functions, but it functions worse. Scar tissue adhesions restrict range of motion. Reduced blood flow limits nutrient delivery to the repair site. The tissue is spending more energy maintaining the patch than it can generate for actual regeneration.

That plateau has a name: Biological Debt

When damaged tissue cannot produce enough cellular energy (ATP) to rebuild itself, it enters what Dr. Smith calls Biological Debt. No amount of rest eliminates this deficit. Ice manages swelling but does not power cell repair. Standard PT strengthens surrounding muscle without addressing the metabolic failure in the damaged tissue itself. The injury is not “healed but weak.” The cells at the injury site are running on empty. Until you restore their energy supply, the plateau is permanent.

Our Commitment to You

Why standard treatments for sports injuries stop short of full recovery

The RICE protocol (rest, ice, compression, elevation) is damage control, not a repair strategy. It reduces swelling and prevents further injury. It does not generate healing. Standard physical therapy builds strength around the injury, which has real value for stability and compensation, but loading compromised tissue without restoring its cellular energy supply is why so many athletes hit a wall in recovery.

Surgery repairs structure. But surgery also creates scar tissue of its own, requires months of downtime, and does not address the energy deficit that stalled healing in the first place. Dr. Smith’s rule: try everything you can before you cut. Because once you cut, you can never uncut.

BEYOND CHIROPRACTIC

About the Doctors

I built ABLE because I refused to accept surgery as the only answer. After football injuries left me with serious groin damage and multiple torn tendons, every doctor said “you need to go under the knife.” I said no – and spent three months healing my own body with High-Intensity Laser and PEMF therapy instead. For me: No surgery. No drugs. Full recovery.

That philosophy drives everything we do at ABLE. Dr. Jason and I have treated thousands of patients here in Apple Valley who came to us after years of pain, failed injections, and surgeons ready to cut. Our approach combines traditional neuro-structural chiropractic adjustments with advanced cellular therapies – PEMF, Red Light, High-Intensity Laser, and Shockwave – to restore movement, repair damaged tissue, and get your body healing the way it was designed to.

My rule is simple: try everything you can before you cut. Because once you cut, you can never uncut.

How IT WORKS

How Does A Visit to ABLE Work?

For new patients, each visit starts by finding out more about your needs and your body’s story. Then you’ll receive a one-on-one consultation thorough physical exam. Then you’ll experience your first “Energy Deposit” session. Lastly, you’ll visit with one of the doctors to review your report and review your visit.

Real Recovery Stories

When considering a clinic to treat your sports injury, it’s important to look beyond claims made by the doctors, it’s important to know what other people in your position thought of their experience, here are just a few of our patients’ real-world experiences.

Frequently Asked Questions About Sports Injury Treatment in Apple Valley

Sports medicine clinics diagnose and manage injuries. ABLE treats the cellular failure that prevents complete healing. A sports medicine doctor will tell you what is torn, strained, or inflamed. Dr. Smith asks why the tissue has not repaired itself after weeks or months and targets that energy deficit with HILT laser, PEMF, and Shockwave. The approaches are not competing – they answer different questions. One identifies the damage. The other fixes why the damage persists.

In most cases, yes – with modifications. Dr. Smith builds your treatment protocol around your training schedule, not the other way around. The goal is to accelerate tissue repair while you maintain conditioning, not to bench you for months. Your Breakthrough Report will identify which movements to avoid and which are safe during recovery. Some patients train the same day as treatment. Others need 24-48 hours between sessions depending on the therapy and the injury site.

ABLE treats soft tissue injuries across the full spectrum: ligament sprains (ACL, MCL, ankle), muscle strains (hamstring, quad, calf), tendon damage (Achilles, patellar, rotator cuff), and chronic overuse injuries like tendinitis and stress fractures. The protocol also addresses post-surgical recovery for athletes who have already had a procedure and want to return to full performance faster. If the injury involves damaged tissue that has stalled in recovery, Dr. Smith’s cellular restoration protocol applies.

Recovery timelines depend on the injury type, severity, and how long the tissue has been in Biological Debt. Acute soft tissue injuries with recent onset may respond within 4-8 sessions. Chronic injuries that have persisted for months or years typically require longer protocols. Dr. Smith sets specific recovery benchmarks during your Discovery Visit based on your X-rays and physical assessment, not a generic timeline. You will know the expected trajectory before you commit to a plan.

Your Discovery Visit includes a deep physical investigation of your injury – not a 5-minute palpation and a referral. Dr. Smith performs digital X-rays if needed, examines the injury site and surrounding biomechanics, and builds your Breakthrough Report: a plain-language explanation of exactly what is malfunctioning and why your recovery stalled. You also receive your first treatment session – an Energy Deposit – so you leave with a real intervention, not a pamphlet. Claim My $49 Discovery Visit
